In fact, I have a license; I cleared all the tests. I just did not drive so far without an expert beside me and did not drive more than 7-8 hrs even with an expert besides me. Now I have to drive alone. So some tension. I already registered for a couple of classes. Let's see how it goes :) |

I am fine. But I am not working on a next post or thinking of the violence. I have a couple of important meetings coming up next week and also I have to drive 3 hours for one of those meetings; I never drove without an instructor beside me before, so I am running scared. I will get some practice over the weekend and I am reading whatever I can online on driving tips. I am very tensed.
As for violence and hatred, nobody has a problem criticising the violence and the last causal connection. But not many trace it back to the root causes. Everybody thinks that they are intelligent just by saying "I am against caste system" or "I am against reservations", not for one moment trying to understand what those sentences mean in the overall picture.
I play the game as I see it. Whether we like it or not, these are the conditions; wishing them away won't make them disappear. What are my priorities and choices? That is all that matters. |

Thank you for the detailed comments Nandita. I feel it is only fair that the people whose lives are going to be affected get to have some say in the matter before decisions on such projects are taken, rather than have such decisions thrust upon them. The referundum (first of its kind on an industrial project) conducted today in Raigarh District of Maharashtra for ascertaining the views of the farmers of around villages regarding the setting up of the SEZ of the Reliance group, is a good beginning , I think. This may yet set a prescedent , if handled well. Let's wait and watch. |
