Wonders

Traveller my mate,rest ye awhile

and answer me ere ye travel mile upon mile.

Did ye ever wonder at the harmony filling all around

at the music in the swelling tides that surround?

Did ye listen to a cricket when it sings

or the flap of a dragonfly"s gossamer wings?

Did you see the rainbow and not grow

envious of the artist that held the brush?

Did ye hear the poetry abound in a green hill

 and also its quiet hush?

Did you take time out to watch the sky

            when it did cry

or see the moon pass hastily by?

      Aye,I did and many more.

The blush on a maiden"s cheek,

the scarlet of her lips ever so meek.

The first gurgle of a baby born in glee,

the soft glow of a father who contentment doth see

I"ve wondered at love"s eternal beauty

and thanked the divinity that shaped this endless variety.
