And yet another bandh in West Bengal and Kolkata!!

And precious time lost in terms of human enrgy and capital...the momentum that was building up since Monday has ben frittered away mid-week...

Don't our political leaders realise how much the average man and woman has come to loathe bandhs?That how little they care??

Why??Because bandhs take away from them their right to work and express themselves in their chosen field...

What has happened and what is happening is most unfortunate!!Police brutality has to end...but surely there has to be some other means of protest---we are no longer in the last century,we are a developing,forward looking nation!

Can we not generate opinion,build up consensus through silent,peaceful rallies,metings,discussions?Wouldn't the impact of that be more long-lasting.....a bandh to protest any and every wrong only generates derision and sniggers,at best pity which is soon buried and forgotten in the dustbins of history...

Can we not emulate the Japanese and work extra hours to register our voice??

The only agenda of those calling for bandhs seem to be to paralyse the state and its econmy.Little gain comes out of such diaboloical designs.No wonder that the younger progressive generation has little or no time for the political class!Our leaders are viewed as spanners in the path of progress.

It's time our leaders both in Government and outside of it,took a hard look at themselves and realised how much out of sync they are with the very people whose causes they claim to espouse!!
